Plastic soda or water bottles make great inexpensive water bottles. A
2-liter bottle fits nicely into the side pocket
of most backpacks.

The trailhead begins off Highway 89A just east of the Midgely Bridge. Switchbacks, Manzanita bushes, and red soil are common in the early stages of the hike. As we approach the summit, the desert terrain gives way to a ponderosa forest. Once at the top of the mountain, hikers can opt for a ¼ mile or a 1-¼ mile hike to various lookout points. Afterwards, we will quench our thirst at the Original Oak Creek Brewery.
