Friend's Hiking Club was originated by Bruce Roscoe of Prescott in 1996. Formerly of Tempe, Bruce "caught the hiking bug" in his 40's, and wanted to share his new-found passion with others. The first trip that he planned involved a trip to Havasu for 36 people. As you might imagine, the logistics of THAT are daunting. Unfazed by this first experience, Bruce and other members planned dayhikes, backpacks and canoe trips. Soon came monthly get-togethers so that new people could be introduced to the current members of the club. Bruce left the club and moved to Prescott over 10 years ago, but the club has continued to gather new members interested in exploring Arizona and the surrounding areas.

Since then, Friend's Hiking Club has had over 400 outings in 8 states as well as Mexico. We have hiked in Glacier National Park, The Grand Canyon, The John Muir Trail, Grand Gulch, UT, Canyon de Chelly, Chaco Canyon just to name a few.

Friend's has over 60 members, ages range from 20 to 60-something, married and single, with and without children, with professions ranging from artists to engineers to trail bums.

We do day hikes, backpacks, canoe/kayack trips, and have activities from Beginner to Advanced - you're sure to find something to tickle your fancy.

So, if you are interested in learning more about our Club, you are welcome to attend any of our hikes or the monthly meeting.
