The Weminuche Wilderness lies in the San Juan and Rio Grande National Forests of southwestern Colorado and is the largest designated Wilderness in that state at nearly half a million acres. Our itinerary takes us up Williams Creek to the Continental Divide and three alpine lakes brimming with cutthroat trout. After a layover day of trout fishing, we'll continue along the Continental Divide Trail to Squaw Pass and return to our starting point via the Cimmarona trail. Spectacular views, cool mountain air and summer rain are a certainty.
Durango is approximately 400 miles from Phoenix. We will stop there for dinner on our way going and coming. |
